so terrible, menudrake

I run mandrake9.1. When I want to redirect the path of shortcut of native mozilla1.3 in K menu to mozilla1.4 I've downloaded from net and compiled via using menudrake, a big trouble follows afterwards. Many apps shortcuts in K menu disappear, the 'home' shortcut on desktop doesn't work at all, and some apps shortcuts on desktop seem to have lost certain links because it says 'can't find ... .desktop.' I can't solve it, and finally I just reinstall mandrake9.1. How does this trouble occur? Is there any way else in which I can manually add my favorite apps shortcuts into K menu without using menudrake? Thanks.

no idea what's wrong with menudrake but you could use
kmenuedit
from a konsole window. This is a KDE specific menu editor and I find it a bit more intelligible than menudrake - menudrake seems to not quite respect what I want the menu to look like. You can also assign short cut keys to certain entries.

If you use the pre-compiled RPMs for Mandrake, then the menus are taken care of for you. Easiest way to find one if you don't have a favourite mirror is to run a search through rpmfind.com or to google for "mandrake mozilla rpm".
