Question Newbie question about "start" or so called menu

Hello,

I faced a problem some time ago when I wanted to delete an item from the "start" menu.
I used first "right-click" on the item itself and got into the KDE menu editor, delete the item, saved but it was always here !
The I "right-clicked" on the "start" (star icon) and got into the Mandrake menu editor, delete the item, saved and it was always here.
Finally, I used locate command to delete everything with the item.desktop.

Can someone explain the difference between all these things ?

Thanks

Mandriva uses its on menu structure. When deleting items from the menu, use menudrake as root and then choose to edit the "All Environments" menu instead of the KDE or GNOME menu.
