I am using MDK 10.0 Official Download with the version of KDE that came with it.
It seems that I cannot get kfind to find "files by name" without it going into "never-never land". Many times I have to re-boot. Also, I lose my /dev/ttySHSF links after using kfind.
There were some postings in another forum about a problem with klipper that caused kfind to crash. These were at the end of last year, prior to MDK 10 release.
The concensus seems to be to use "slocate" or "find" in a command line window ... not that that's much help for a newbie or a GUI-centric person. I've just tried "slocate", and found I had to run "updatedb" first. I was able to bring up a long list of "mozilla" files, but in essence I have no idea what I'm doing, or why.
I noticed that my kde does that if you are using the find files in the KDE start menu, I have found a work around though!
Open up your home directory ( or another directory if you want) Go to "Tool" Then "Find File" it works ok if you do your find files from there instead of the KDE start menu, why? No clue, but hey it works
