Mandrake hogs reasources?

Why would mandrake 9 be running very slow on a 750mhz w/128mb ram?

If you are using KDE, 128 meg is a bare minimum. Increase your ram (cheap) or use a lighter window manager/desktop environment e.g. IceWM.
