I am about to set up a NIS server on one computer running mandrake community 10.0.
I use the cocumentations on:
tldp.org/HOWTO/NIS-HOWTO/portmapper.html
when I should set up the server with

rpcinfo -u localhost ypserv
I get:

rpcinfo: RPC: Program not registered
program 100004 is not available
I have installed the package: "portmap-4.0-21mdk.i586.rpm" successfully....
I need to get the RPC thingy start on boot.. I think

To run any of the software mentioned below you will need to run the program /sbin/portmap. Some Linux distributions already have the code in the /sbin/init.d/ or /etc/rc.d/ files to start up this daemon. All you have to do is to activate it and reboot your Linux machine. but I have found nothing in the mandrake documentations on how to do this...
I am a "bit" lost... help would be nice... It's for the good of my country.. 8-P
