MAndrake 10.. kde gnome sound problem...

Ok, I have an issue with sound on mandrake 10. I have 3 people using it.. One uses KDE, the other two use gnome.

the issue.

If the KDE user logs in.. sound works fine.. they log out. then a gnome user logs in.. sound works fine..

they log out... kde user logs back in... the master sound in kmix is then turned all the way down, it has to be turned back up to work.. then sound doesnt work at all in gnome afterwards?..

any ideas?? I tried to save the sound setting in kmix to see if the problem would go away but there is no way to save it???

thanks
trey
