Hey all,

I had Mandrake 9.2 on an old Compaq Presario 1685 which ran well. I was surprised when I installed 9.2 that it recognized the model and set itself up accordingly. Apparently that’s a feature/service yet to be added to 10.0 Community. I upgraded to 10 because I heard the new kernel was faster and I had some recurring errors in 9.2.

I did a fresh install of 10.0 on this Presario 1685. During most of the setup the touchpad mouse was fine, once a driver was chosen for it (tried ps2 generic, ps2 generic mouse wheel, and universal) functionality became entirely batty, the mouse flies all over the place, button seem to get clicked at random - basically unusable. To top it off, the Mandrake Update does not seem to be working.

Does anyone know where i can get a better driver for my touchpad? If I can't get this resolved, I'm going to have to go back to 9.2.

I don't have a link with me...but that's what I use in all the distros I've tried on my laptop (Presario 2110), works great, not too hard to compile or setup.
