Mandrake 10.0 install trouble
Installing Mandrake 10.0 CE on a Toshiba Portege 3440CT laptop.
We bought the laptop used from EBay and it did not come with a Floppy Drive. What we do have is the external Toshiba CDROM/Port Replicator.
I am able to boot from that external drive without any problem, the Mandrake installation begins and then it prompts me to insert an additional driver floppy disk. When I say that I don't have that (because I have no FDD) it then fails to install as it does not recognise that I have a CD ROM device even though that is what the system had successfuly booted from.
If I hit enter when prompted for the Floppy disk then there is still no change to the behaviour.
I have also tried booting from the pcmcia.img burned to a CDROM and the behaviour is identical. (my thinking is that it is a PCMCIA CDROM device).
Help? Thanks!
