Hi,
I'm after some advance about installing/Configuring a mail server on my Mandrake Linux 9.1 Box.

I currently have Apache running on this box and connect to this using Internet Explorer from Windows 2000 PC's.

I'm looking for some Advice/Help about installing a mail server on this box as well so that I can connect to and receive mail,local to my network, from other machines via Outlook.

Is this possible and if so can anyone recommend a good/Easy to configure mail server.

If the Linux PC was connected to the Internet should I be able to send E-mail from it out to Other Mail servers. I know I wouldn't be able to receive mail from these servers as they wouldn't know about my machine but should I be able to Send mail out onto the Internet through a mail Server on my machine.

Yes, this is possible, Postfix, Exim, and CommuniGate Pro (commercial, web-based config, free trial) are the popular ones these days.

As for sending to the internet, this will depend on the other mail servers out there, as some of them are configured not to accept any mail from a server or domain that they don't know about (specially unregistered domains). But it is likely to work.
