Ok, I just installed Mandrake 10.1 on my laptop, the only problem I seem to be having is I cant install the driver for my PCMCIA network card...Its a Linksys Wireless G Notebook Adapter Ver2 ...Anyone know what I need to do to get it installed correctly?
First you'll need the model or chipset. If it's a wireless notebook "card" then the model number should be on it and you can google for the chipset that it uses. If it's an internal wireless adapter, you may have to look in your documentation or go to the notebook manufacturer's website to look for information. You may also get some information about it in the Mandriva Control Center in the hardware section. The problem is that there is probably more than one Linksys wireless internet card and the process may be different depending on which one you have. After that, post back here with that information and hopefully it will be one that someone has gotten working (I use a netgear wireless card myself). If you find the model number or chipset, you may also be able to search through these forums to see if anyone has information on it. That may be faster than waiting on someone to answer.
If you find out that you have a WPC54G version 2 (this is the most likely card, but it may not be right so make sure you check, if not you'll just waste your time and possible break things), then I believe your chipset is a Texas Instruments ACX 111 from the searching I've done. If that's the case, I think you'll have to use a program called ndiswrapper. You should be able to install this using rpmdrake in the Mandriva Control Center, but you're going to have to google around a bit for directions of how to use it.
