Lilo (and Grub) don't accept keyboard input

Everything is working fine now. I dont know what the cause of the problem was but there is no problem anymore, and Mandrake 10.0 is OK. There are some improvements over 9.1 (previous version that I was using.) Worth the time anyway.
I installed Mandrake 10.0 today (downloaded 3 ISO images) and it was going all fine except that the install did not finish. The installation just hung right before exit. Right after I had selected not to upgrade anything from the internet (since my wireless card was not detected - as expected) the installation program hung. I could not move my mouse and nothing happened.
Anyway since post-install configuration was done I thought I might be able to boot anyway. So I restarted the computer (desktop PC.) Now the problem is that whenever I try to boot I can not choose any OS from the options at boot time since Lilo wont accept keyboard input.
So I re-installed and again the installation Hung. But this time I had installed Grub. Same thing. Wont take input.
BTW, Mandrake 10.0 is hopeless. I have used Redhat 7.1, Mandrake 8.? and 9.1 in the past all of them were good and getting better. But Mandrake 10.0 sucks even during install. Its such a wastage of time I spent the last night downloading the ISO's (that too turned out to be painstaking with my new slower connection) and tonight on installing.
And what's with 4 installation disks? there are only 3 images at http://iso.linuxquestions.org/EDIT Edit
