LE2005 keeps rebooting

I've installed LE2005 on my machine about 4 or 5 times and everytime when I boot to it or in failsafe everything loads with no errors until it gets to when it says activating swap partition and then it shutsdown and reboots. I'm running dual boot with xp and xp is working fine. I have a geforce 2 mx video card and I see a lot of posts about problems with nvidia cards. Could this be it? I'm new to linux so I don't know alot about it. My system is a dell 2300 with 1.8 celeron and 256mb ram if this makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How big is the swap partition? Also, I think the swap partition should be the very first one on the harddisk drive. Normal swap size should be from 1 to 2 times the amount of ram you have.

This page might be of help too since Mandrake 9.1 is very similar to LE 2005.

When you install are you doing a custom partition or are you letting Mandrake do the partition setup. With todays ram it is no longer necessary to double your ram for swap, a swap of 250 - 300 megs will do fine for most applications.

your geforce card, is that an ultra modern card ? or what.
Have you checked that is compatible on mandrake / mandriva's HCL

Thanks for the help

Thanks for trying to help , but I figured it out. I had a built in video card so I took out my nvidia card and and everything worked perfectly. A small price to pay to get away from windows.

Maybe you didn't disable the built in video card in the BIOS.
