Installing Mandriva NOT ISO

Ok So I am downloading right now a copy of the latest Mandriva release (2006 edition). Currently there is no ISOs. How would I install Mandriva? There is one iso called boot however where do i place all the files that are needed? Sorry for my noobish question but I am a learning ex Windows User.

If you have installed the boot.iso then you burn it to cd and boot from that cd.
It will give you an option to choose ftp. Once you choose ftp you have to have a working internet connection. A fast connection is really needed or it will take forever to download the information needed to install it. I have wireless at home and I don't seem to be able to load up my wireless to do the install so I'm installing it on my laptop first from work.

That is what I'm doing now. I have a fast connection but I think I have connected to a slow one. It's been 4 1/2 hours so far and I'm not done downloading the bulk of the program.

What I'm trying to find out is what to make install cd's from my working install once I have downloaded everything and have a working syste. Maybe, I cam make a live cd and it might have the options to install from it. Still checking about that.

I think you got it wrong. Isnt there a option to choose local connection? If not then simplely setup a FTP server on the computer where you downloaded the files.

Naaaaa your still going to have to burn the boot.iso to disk and boot from there and then select either an ftp or http source. Its not difficult at all. I am not aware of a method of installing from a downloaded directory tree, if there is then I've been doing it wrong all along.
