Click on Start icon nothing happens

Hi all,
Yesterday I remove windows xp definitely from my pc for Linux (I'm trying to use for now Mandriva 10.1.)
For me was an hard choice to do but I hope to find a lot of new friends here that will help me to go on!
I have two problems:
1) Using kde, when on the desktop I click on 'Home' icon nothing happens.
2) I can hear only systems sounds and no CD, MP3. If if use gnome it works. Why?

for 2), is your sound card detected by mandrake? please check it with hardrake.

since problem 1 is solved

KDE Menu> System>Configuration>Configure You Desktop > Sound> Sound System

chose alsa instead of oss.

and install ARTS
the KDE sound system

urmpi kde-arts
