Change Resolution (not dimension)


Hi,

is there a metod to change resolution of X Server ?

Now I have dimension 1280x1024 and resolution 98 x 104 dpi.
Text is very small, and I wuold like to have it more big...

The syntax of the command to use depends on the distro you have.
For instance on redhat enterprise it is redhat-config-xfree86.
Let us know what you use and someone will help.

You can't change the resolution without changing the dimension, because dpi means "dot per inch" and the computer screen is not elastic. I think the krandr (IIRC) software does what you want.

The XFree/XOrg extension to allow on-the-fly change of resolution, bit depth, or frequency, is called "randr" or "xrandr" (I don't remember).

IIRC (which means: If I remember correctly), the KDE project created a nice GUI (graphical user interface, ie: using windows) program for controling this randr extension. And IIRC this program is called krandr. But I don't use KDE, so I can't confirm.
