cannot get Geforce 6600 run, black screen


I have a geforce 6600, and running Mandriva 2005LE on a dual AMD64 box. I installed the 7676 driver and change the drive to "nvidia", then restart X. The screen went black and the monitor stand by after several seconds. I am knid of new to linux and I don't know what to do now. Any one can help? Thanks a lot.

You might try older versions of the driver from the archive....

none of them worked, I have no idea what to do now.

Re-read your post and noted you have an AMD64, maybe you should use the 64bit version of the Nvidia driver.

Linux IA64
Latest Version: 1.0-5336
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...-5336-pkg1.run


Assuming also your using 64bit version on Mandriva.

no, didn't work. my system is still a 32-bit OS.
