Unhappy after deleting win partition I am getting "kernel panic"

Hi,
I am running Mandrake 9.2 and I had my disk partitioned as such:
-fat32 C:
-fat32 D:
-swap /swap (hda6)
-ext3 / (hda7)
-ext3 /home (hda8)

After some use I decided that D: had to go to make more space for an ext3 partition. So I used the Disk tool that comes in Mandrake Control Center and deleted Dnot sure what hda* it was). After that I rebooted and upon selecting my normal linux option from Lilo I got to a point during boot where I get the following error:

Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

I thought the partitions in lilo.conf and in fstab had to be changed and I changed them to the new values of
/swap hda5
/ hda6
/hda7

by booting with the instalation Cd with the rescue option and then used vi to edit the 2 configuration files. After that I rebooted and I still get the same error as before. Please help!!!
