You like it this way ?

Hey, this Linux Question site, looks really dated, and somehow there's activity on it ?

Is it because you like 2000 look, or is it because this way you put off bad users, as not many would thing this forum is abandoned.

I use it because it is where I learn stuff from knowledgeable and helpful persons and, occasionally, am able to help someone else.

Eye candy is much overrated in these superficial times.

It's because CONTENT IS KING! Substance over style!

Maybe I should dig out my copy of CSS Zen Garden. We could have a contest for best new design. All the cool kids update their website look and feel periodically.

Yes, I like it this way, but what is an example of a more modern looking forum? I hadn't noticed anything dated looking about this one in particular, so would need something to compare to... I guess it doesn't offer a dark mode, it is sometimes jarring to switch to it from other tabs, especially at night...
And what makes it look abandoned? Seems fairly active...

I think Links2 ,and, I know Dillo work here if you cared to check. But it seems you are a point and click user used to running a Desktop Environments.

Not everyone has razzle dazzle gear.

It’s a forum. It looks like a forum. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here.

We did experiment with a StackExchange-style site at one point. That ended up getting taken down because it wasn’t being used.

And this is another design we experimented with. It died too.

Personally, I come here for the stuff in the posts - the meat of matters. Complaints about eye candy are immature and don't need serious treatment or long threads. Also, familiarity is good.

Let our moaner about eye candy design us a better site, and I'm sure it will be considered on it's merits. That's the Open source way, isn't it?

I'd prefer the right-hand side panels to go away to give more horizontal space to the actual comments (more important for those of us with small screens), but I come here for the content, not the layout.
