I have seen on some sites the use of a 'Thanks' tag when someone is able to help someone else out with a problem. Perhaps the same idea could be added in here, promoting how much someone helps out others with their responses, etc.
Normally this is a request for a "solved" icon, and the response is generally that 90%+ of users just don't use it. this does seem like a more intelligent idea, but at the same time the concept of rating someone generally sits quite awkwardly here. We try to play down things like post counts and member titles as they tend to really show very little (maybe i'm about the best case for that...). What does it show to have recieved 200 thanks compared to 20 thanks?
btw, please could you remove your company details from your signature, unauthorised advertising is, as the name inplies, not authorised based on the rules onf membership. if you do wish to advertise your noisy microsoft centric site ()here legitimately, please contact jeremy, thanks.
The only reason I brought it up is that it does become a pain to see when someone is having a problem then have to read several pages into it to see it was actually 'solved'.
As for the signature, fixed -- even though I am three-faced since I handle Microsoft, Solaris and Linux solutions, depending on the business need.
well as above a pure "solved" system doesn't get used. I got the impression you were more looking at the user level thanking side, somethign that we have done presviously with side projects like affero.
