Is it time for change?

I notice more and more of the newbies intro posts being in what I will call text message abbreviations. This is going to be hard on me to learn. If this is the coming thing I wonder, would Jeremy be willing to modify spell check and let someone post the most common abbreviations?

I must admit I don't even read the intros.
As for "leet-speak", I just ignore those posts as well.

If AOL speak is becoming a major annoyance - and I agree, it can make it twice as hard to read and understand a post - report offenders and one of us will see if there's anything we can do.

One of the reasons, I believe, that it is more prevalent is because it's the lingua franca of IRC and IMs and lots of people write like that because they think it's the norm.

And I've moved this to LQ Suggestions and Feedback.
