How to make a distro specific logo show up on threads

All I see when I make posts is the little generic linux logo (the penguin), but other people have their distro specific logo. How do I make this show up? I didn't see an option anywhere

You have to set your web browser user agent to say what distro you're running. I think there's a limited number of distro logos (the big ones like Fedora, opensuse, debian, etc).

test

edit: awesome thanks.

For anyone else who might want to know how to do this, in firefox: browse to about:config and do a search for
Code:
general.useragent.extra.firefox
In the result that comes up, change it so that your distro name is at the beginning. i.e., mine came up with a value of
Firefox/3.6.12

For Slackware, I changed this to
Slackware/Firefox/3.6.12

Did you try to visit yahoo mail? looks like yahoo likes to retrieve this information and based on that loads specific html modules. When I appended my distro to it (similar to above) I now get a message from yahoo that it cannot determine what browser I'm using; so I had to revert back.

I just tried. I got a window warning me that Yahoo Mail hadn't been tested with my distro, and I could either continue anyway or use Yahoo Mail Classic. I picked continue anyway and it loaded like it should. Not sure why it wouldn't work for yours

I don't know if this an Opera feature that Firefox has yet, but in Opera you can set your browser identity separately for each site.

Which browser are you using?

Or, which browsers are you using for what purposes?

silvyus_06,

What are you testing for? -- I suspect that you want to see if you can change the distro logo in your posts. If so, I think you may be doing the opposite of what you need to do, & I fear it's my fault.

My comments about Opera's masquerade capability were aimed at the Yahoo! mail problem.

I believe that you need to find & alter your user agent string to include your distro info. Then, if LQ has the logo for your distro, it can be displayed. Don't worry identifying or masking as Firefox or IE, check your user agent string, if you can find it.

silvyus_06: Set opera:config#ISP|Id to something suitable, click save and then restart Opera and it will probably work. For example the regular User Agent string for Opera 11 on 64bit Linux with a en-GB locale is:

Code:
Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; en-GB) Presto/2.7.62 Version/11.00
If you set opera:config#ISP|Id to Slackware it would become:

Code:
Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; Slackware; en-GB) Presto/2.7.62 Version/11.00
The preference was added for ISPs who provide custom versions of Opera but it seems to work equally well for entering Linux distro names.
