Total newb of the SuSE 10.2 sort

I've newly embarked on the Linux adventure. Tried several distros before, but just couldn't figure them out. It seems that SuSE is a bit more intuitive for the Windows user, but not entirely.

Any advice on how to become more versed in Linux? Any online Linux for Dummies, for example? And how to easily install new software? It's not just click the file and point it to a folder.

Any good advice is gratefully accepted.

Welcome to Linux Questions. One of the SuSE manuals on the first install disc ( Look in /doc/en/ ) will introduce you to many of the programs you might have installed. There are a number of good howto's on the www.tldp.org website (The Linux Documentation Project). Also, look in /usr/share/doc/. Some packages like mysql and mplayer will have documentation there. For samba, there is a samba-doc package that installs html docs and pdf books. The same samba 3 books you can buy in the book store.
