Newbie says hello & understanding the "dd" command


Hello to the Group:
I am a new member just wishing to say Hi!
I am looking to understand the command "dd".
Will read all I can find on this forum
I would apprieciate any advice on the use of the dd command on centos 4.0.

Welcome to LQ. As well as using 'man dd' in a terminal, http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...ything_With_DD & http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...files_using_dd may be of use.

It's also worth while removing your email address from your post, this will prevent harvesters from picking it up and we don't answer questions by email: all questions and answers are dealt with through the boards.
