New to linux, facing problems
Hi Everyone,
I am new to linux switching from windows XP. I am using the latest version of fedora from their site alongwith the updates.
I have two questions.
1. When i switch on to linux the PC makes i lot of noise. I think the fan over cpu is continously running and the cpu doesn't go to the power saving mode. Also when starting up i get the error "Error Inserting acpi_cpufreq:..." By googling i found that in /etc/cpuspeed.conf, i hvae to insert the line DRIVERS="p4_clockmod".
But this did not help. I would like to enable the power saving mode otherwise i am afraid the cpu will burn out.
2. Whe i open a terminal window whether login as user or as root i get the prompt with the ethernet address concatinated with it. How can i remove the ethernet address from the prompt. For example it will be like the following (modified the eth address).
[root@dra38-2-82-244-118-256 ~]#
Can anyone suggest how i can overcome these problems.
Thanks
sibnath
