I am delving into the linux world with the object of running Oracle RAC 10g
on OUL 'Oracle Unbreakable Linux' on VMWARE.
Has anyone tried this ?
I am not an engineer and have come up against a few brick walls with our 'sandpit', so have taken VM out of the mix and going straight linux and database.
The environmwent was ESX on HP blade server and we had issues trying to share a disk volume for RAC. Access is via an ILO card so quite painful.
Local disk is HP Smart Array
When we remove the ESX we had problem because of SAN attached disks , but once the fiber card removed Linux installed OK ( previously we had I/O errors on sda,sdb etc)
The next step is to re-present the SAN disk etc.
Sound exciting? I hope to inform of progress of this mission...
