Firstly allow me introduce myself
I'm corpsemaker

Ive been dabbling with linux off and on for some time but never really put a serious effort into it....that is until now.

as such I am finding my self in need of a some what complex ...or not complex home setup so I can study things like networking webdesign app development etc.

Linux with it's competitive price tag of FREE seems like a great foundation to reach these goals.

That being said ive located the search button LOL

but if anybody wants to drown me in some initial docs for the following project please do.

Project as follows

I have a internal LAMP server running off mint 15

the other computers can hit it via ip address but id like to hit it with say somthing lik blahblahblah.dev/

am assuming ill need to have an internal DNS server resolving the desired name to the servers ip but not quite sure how to go about that.

second goal i need external access to this same server again i assume ill have to edit ports the service listens on and also enable portforwarding via my router.

again im sure these issues have been touched before and i see the search button....buuuuuut if somebody wants to give me a knudge in the right direction....it couldnt hurt right?

All that being said im glad to join the community you all have here and will try to be as posistive as an addition as my greenhorn self can be.
