Wireless locks up with dhclient

I am running Debian, and just upgraded my kernel to 2.6-18-5 and my wireless card stopped working, fine whatever. So i downloaded ieee80211 and ipw3945 and tried to compile them, didnt work, then i did a aptitude install ipw3945d ipw3945-source firmware-3945 module-assistant and it found my card, but every time i run dhclient eth2 my system locks up. I found another thread that said to run the aptitude install.... then m-a prepare, m-a a-i ipw3945 and modprobe ipw3945. I run those commands and dhclient doesnt lock up but i cant connect to my wireless AP. So i reboot, i get some error message about a bug i cant remember what it said. I go back to version 2.6-18-4 and run aptitude upgrade (something like that and it upgraded ipw3945) and i can now get into kernel 2.6-18-5, but it still wont connect. I removed everything (aptitude remove ipw3945d...) and reboot, but i still get some error messages in dmesg. Here they are

Code:
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_wx_get_encodeext
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_wx_set_encode
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_wx_get_encode
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_txb_free
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_wx_set_encodeext
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_wx_get_scan
ipw3945: Unknown symbol escape_essid
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_freq_to_channel
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_set_geo
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_rx
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_get_channel
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_channel_to_index
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_rx_mgt
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_get_geo
ipw3945: Unknown symbol free_ieee80211
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_tx_frame
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_is_valid_channel
ipw3945: Unknown symbol ieee80211_get_channel_flags
ipw3945: Unknown symbol alloc_ieee80211
I've gone back to the ieee80211 source files and did a make uninstall but i still keep getting these messages and i thought i removed ipw495. Any suggestions?

Would it be possible to remove the 2.6-18-5 kernel and go back to 2.6-18-4? I know i can boot to 2.6-18.4 but i would like to remove 5 and re-upgrade, i pretty much want to start over with version 5 if possible, how would i do that?
