I breifly glanced through the forums to see if i could find a thread that answered my question so forgive me if this is a repeat. I just installed Fedora Core on my laptop for school and I'm interested in implementing wireless through Linux. But I don't even know where to start.
well you need to start by telling us what equipment you have and what you want to actually do. many wirelss cards have native drivers, many other make use of a driver wrapper called ndiswrapper to use the windows drivers to run the cards.
hmmmm.... well, i have an integrated NIC and drivers are on a disc. I'm not sure if the disc would work with linux... All I want to do is pick up wireless signals at home and at school.
I think you need to tell other people your hardware.
what laptop you use, what wireless device you use? intel pro 2100/2200? what disk you have or etc.
tell other people what is your linux distro? if you are using wireless 2200BG. Using suse 10.0 (don't go to 10.1), the wireless will ready immediately after installation. However you need to do some work if you want to watch dvd movie, wmv file and listen mp3(same with others distro).
