Virtual bridging of wireless and ethernet devices
On my laptop, I have a wireless and an Ethernet devices.
I only use the wireless device. There is no wired connection to the Ethernet device port.

I want to install KVM, and I want the virtual guest OSes to have their
virtual interfaces connected to the outside network through the physical Ethernet interface, making them appear as normal hosts to the rest of the network.

This way I can access the guest from another computer in this local network.

But this page, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KVM/Networking , said the following:

Quote:
Warning: Network bridging will not work when the physical network device (e.g., eth1, ath0) used for bridging is a wireless device (e.g., ipw3945), as most wireless device drivers do not support bridging! normal hosts to the rest of the network.

But this page, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KVM/Networking , said the following:

Warning: Network bridging will not work when the physical network device (e.g., eth1, ath0) used for bridging is a wireless device (e.g., ipw3945), as most wireless device drivers do not support bridging!

And this, http://ask.xmodulo.com/configure-lin...er-ubuntu.html, shows how to do bridging to ethernet device.

I thought It may be possible to create a virtual bridge on between the physical Ethernet device and the wireless device,
and then a bridge between the same physical Ethernet device and the virtual guests interfaces.

If we have two such bridges, then it is possible to access the guest OS in this order:
some_local_host1 => host2_wireless_device => host2_wireless_to_eth_bridge => host2_eth_to_guesOS_bridge => guest_OS

How do I determine if the wireless device supports bridging and how do I bridge the physical ethernet device and the wireless device? Can this be done?

It seems like you are just getting started.

I recommend using VirtualBox because they've done most of the heavy lifting of sorting out connecting a virtual machine to a network.

Later on, when you have some mastery over VirtualBox, switch to libvirt/kvm-quemu.
