Problem: Zenwalk Wireless rt61

I've got a question.

I just installed Zenwalk 3 and wanted wifi to work.

I Installed my card (sudo ndiswrapper -i /blabla/rt61.inf

I did ndiswrapper -l
Result:
rt61 Driver Installed, Hardware Present

So I'm stuck now, What do i do next???

I tried iwlist wlan0 scan but get 'no scan result'

(i am on my laptop (next to my pc) now and using ubuntu and i have a wifi connection so why does my PC say 'no scan results')

I'm pretty new to linux and have read some things about kernell modules and stuff but have no idea what that means. I hope someone will feel petty and help me :-)

Thanks in advance.

You can use a Linux driver for a RaLink RT61 based WLAN device.

You can download the sources from RaLink or serialmonkey. Compile it according to the README/INSTALL files in the sources and your WLAN device will work without ndiswrapper.

I use a RT61 and a RT73 based Ralink WLAN device in Slackware with Linux drivers from RaLink without a problem.

If you want to use WPA or WPA2 you do NOT need wpa_supplicant, the RaLink based WLAN devices can do this by default.

I tried to install the driver from ralink website but when i do the MAKE command i get:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.17.11/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2

I tried to install kernel source 2.6.17.6 through pkgtool but i get the same error after rebooting

what to do?

I think you will not have any problem if you use these kernelsources (from Zenwalk mirror, sources for Zenwalk kernel 2.6.17.11):

http://zenwalk.mirrors.tds.net/pub/l....17.11.tar.bz2

Untar it in /usr/src/ and do a:

Code:
cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.17.11
cp /boot/.config .config # or zcat /proc/config.gz > .config (if available)
make prepare
make scripts
Then recompile your RaLink driver and it will work.
