No internet although wireless is installed

I have Suse 10.0 x64 running on an HP zv6130 laptop that has built-in Broadcom 802.11g. Here's some info:

linux:~ # ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
bcmwl5 driver installed, hardware present

linux:~ # iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

KWiFiManager says I'm connected with signal strength = 100. So why when I open my browser it can't find any web page? I've tried numerous sites. I've followed Ndiswrapper instructions and nothing helps. I've modprobed ndiswrapper, I've configured, I've done ifconfig wlan0 up, and I've rebooted with noapic. But no web!!

As far as my network device appearing in Yast2 modules, I didn't add it. Both the ethernet and the wireless were already there. I took a look at the wirelss and all is correct.

So please please please tell me why no internet?

No internet although wireless is installed -solved-

I GOT IT!!! I GOT IT!!!!!

I'm using wireless connection right now!!! Thanks for reponses and assistance!! I'm so happy!! The problem was that I didn't have the Broadcom configured correctly wih Suse. To be honest I still really don't know the right configuration. So I went into Yast2 modules and looked at Network Devices. I switched the ethernet card to be loaded manually and the wireless card to load at boot time. Then rather input the address I selected auto by DHCP (are those the right lettes?). This did the trick.

Thumbs up

Hi,

I see that you were successful in getting your wireless working using ndiswrapper . I tried unsuccessfully to get this working on my zv6130 laptop, and eventually gave up and switched back to using the bcm43xx driver instead. I'm happy to report that it works!!!, even with WPA encryption.

I was wondering if you use the 32-bit driver or the 64-bit?
