Believe it or not, people here volunteer their time. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is just sitting around waiting to pounce on questions, particularly from people too impatient to do anything other than bitch and moan. There are thousands of posts here a day so the fact that yours didn't get answered in a mere three hours is not surprising. In fact you should wait 24-48 hours before bumping your post. And believe it or not, this site is set up so that posts with 0 replies are automatically bumped.

As for your problem, go google on ndiswrapper and knoppix. Until your attitude improves, that is likely all the help you'll get from here.

From what I can see from using this cool Google thing I keep hearing so much about, the v2.8 uses an Atmel chipset. There is an open source driver for that. Alternatively, ndiswrapper would probably do the trick.

I'm not sure if either of those are included with Knoppix 3.9. I'd use the find command or read the Knoppix docs to see if they are.

Here's an entry from the LQ HCL - Hardware Compatibility List - for the device. It discusses using the Atmel driver from CVS.
