its supposed to activate the card on boot.. and set your essid and your encryption key.. but you have to reboot for that to work... and if it doesnt... you need to the other way that was suggested... but that method should work on RH9.

when i use [root@localhost root]# iwconfig essid 2wire,

i get the Error : unrecognised wireless request "2wire"

(no matter what i put after "essid"). Am I doing it wrong?

did you try putting any instead of 2wire?

!!! nuh-uh, what else should i try? edit: that is, anything else doesn't work and that's what i'm pretty sure is the name of our network.

okay, it works now! this is what worked for me:

$ iwconfig wlan0 essid NAMEOFIT (for me, 2wire011)
$ iwconfig wlan0 key ##########
$ dhclient wlan0
