Easiest card to install ?

Hello

I need to add a wireless card on a linux PC (RedHat7.2) and I was wondering what the best choice is.

I have seen some pages telling that such or such cards can be supported by linux, but I have also read, here or on other forums, that many people encountered problems during installation.

Basically, what I want to know is what is the most widely used wireless card used on linux (desktop pc, not laptop).
If you use RedHat with a wireless card, please let me know your configuration so that I should try the same.

To be more specific my criteria of choice are:
- the card must be easy to find today in an average shop
- it must be known that there is almost no problem when trying to install it on any linux box.
- it must be PCI or USB (I would prefer USB in order to move the card to other boxes, but I have the feeling that this will not match the previous criterion)
- it must support 802.11b (and, if possible, 802.11g too)

first, I use RH9 - but I think this could still be helpful for you.

I have netgear MA311 PCI cards installed in my machines. They're 802.11b and I think pretty easy to get ahold of (they were for me at least). I put them in the machine, turned it on, and then did a "modprobe orinoco_pci" - and they work great!

I'm not sure, but I would imagine that if your kernel version comes with the orinoco_pci module, then these cards will work fine for you as well.

anyway, hope this helps
