DWL-650+ not working

I recently changed my laptop from XP to Gentoo. Everything is working pretty much allright, the only problem I'm having is that I can't get my wireless card, a DWL-650+ working properly. I emerged acx100 and I followed directions on this page: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_ACX1...wireless_cards and after that iwconfig started showing me that a wlan0 was present, but I couldn't get it to work. Also, before I can use the internet, even on wired, I have to give the command dhcpcd -B eth0. Any way to fix that? Pretty much, i just want my wireless card working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Depending on the type of wireless card you have, you will want to visit prism54.org or download ndiswrapper. I have used each. The way prism54 cards work is that you download the driver, put it in the proper directory and then reboot. After that you should be able to configure your card.

If your card isn't supported by that, from the name is appears to be a dlink, you have to use ndiswrapper. Basically it's a program to load the windows driver for your wireless card, so you'll need to have access to that off the cd or if someone can download it for you.

Some hints - if slackware uses a 4k kernel stack like Fedora, you may need to obtain a kernel with a 16k stack - that's what I had to do.

The ndiswrapper site had a wiki somewhere, I remember it not being obvious the first time I tried to install it, where they give installation instructions by distro. Some already have the package some need to compile it. etc Check that out and you should have wireless up within a few hours - 2 days at most.
