cisco aironet/mandrake 9.2 intalling

Thank you in advance for your replies...I'm new to this and don't know where to start with drivers. I have downloaded the drivers for this wireless adapter it saved as download.cgi off of the cisco website thinking that it would be a tar.gz file. I don't know what the next step is thanks for the help.

Did the site say it was a .tar.gz file? Cause it seems you downloaded the linking page/script to the file now. Are you sure it's right?

Now let's just go on with installing it

Open a terminal emulator. For mandrake with kde that's Konsole. Now go to the directory in which you downloaded the file with the cd command.
Code:
cd /path/to/file
If you went wrong you can use cd .. to go back one directory, cd ~ to go back to your /home directory.

Now extract the archive:
Code:
tar -zxvf file.tar.gz
Go into the directory that was made. Here I'll give a complete list of what can happen but some steps might be not needed but you'll notice cause you get an error about a file that doesn't exist then.

I think this one might be not needed:
Code:
./configure
Then make yourself root:
Code:
su -
Now run the command that builds and install the drivers:
Code:
make
Wait till it's finished then:
Code:
make install
After this the driver is finished. You probably have to insert it in the kernel now using modprobe but since I don't know the name of the driver I can't tell you the command yet. So post back if you can't figure it out or are finished with this.

Ok good then it's just with the sh file. You need to install the libgtkmn package.

I'm not really familiar with mandrakes package management so could you please explain a bit more about what you're doing. What errors you're getting?
