broadband connection (wireless)

Please assist us reagrding BSNL (provider of broadband in india) broadband connection thru wireless lancard (d link) or cable connected lancard. we r new to linux but we know windows networking concetps. please describe in detail.
we r using fedora 5 (built in lan card) Dlink Wireless lan card) and P-IV system. cable modem )

1 Cable or ADSL modem?
