How to make broadband connection

Hi folks,

Ubuntu-6.06.1-server-LAMP-amd64
For test only
dynamic IP
eth0 (one ethernet card)

Following Server Guide
html - https://help.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/serverguide/C/index.html

/etc/network/interfaces
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

But I can't figure out where to put login and password so that ISP will be connected automatically at boot. Please advice.

TIA

pppoe-setup, pppoeconf, etc. did not work here.

Which kind of connection are you using? Dial-up, DSL, cable modem, etc...

Explore the directory /etc/ppp. It has a script called pppoe_on_boot and some options under the directory peers.

Hi Redeye2,

Tks for your advice.

No pppoe installed on this Ubuntu-LAMP-server. "which pppoe" can't find it. Neither there is GUI browser running and no X-window as well.

Is it pppoe for workstation?

Tks.

Since it's a server you'll need to install the packages probably
Try sudo apt-get install pppoe pppoeconf and then run the commands.

Since you stated that your install doesn't have those packages, I think you'll need to install them. They are used to set up DSL conections. Btw, too bad I can't change my username so it reflects my Ubuntu forums one
