Smile airodeump-ng not showing any wifi networks around me

Hi,

I am using TP-LINK TL-WN321g usb wifi adapter in Backtrack 5 in vmware as guest os as win 7 host os.

I am able to connect to my wifi.

in backtrack with usb adapter,

airmon-ng:

interface: wlan1
chipshet: ralink 2800/3070

airmon-ng start wlan1
(monitor mode enabled on mon0)

airodump-ng mon0

(no access point shown)

Why....?? what would be the issue...

I like to see wifi around me...

And, WICD doeesnot show any wifi netowork as it shows only as " wired default"

Thanks in advance.

LinuxQuestions.org doesn't allow questions about cracking passwords or breaking into networks. Please restrict the content to configuration issues. I'm allowing this thread to continue because aerodump-ng may have legitimate diagnostic and educational uses.

Aircrack-ng, or discussing cracking authentication would cross the thin line I am allowing.

I may be overruled, or convinced otherwise. Thank you for your understanding.
