Exclamation Ubuntu 10.04 shows no wifi networks available.

I reccently installed Ubuntu 10.04 & I am having problem in connecting to internet via wifi network( IT SHOWS, NO NETWORK CONNECTIONS ARE AVAILABLE),I am also using windows 7 on the same machine but there is no such problem in that.
I tried to solve the problem by following the steps mentioned on Ubuntu's web site.
https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/intern...-wireless.html
the output of the first step was "UNCLAIMED"
which means there is no driver loaded.
I am unable to understand the steps mentioned after that.

How will i download & install the driver as [COLOR="Red"]I DONT HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION IN UBUNTU, BUT "I CAN" CONNECT TO INTERNET VIA WINDOWS 7 (THAT IS ON THE SAME MACHINE)

plz help me,tell me the procedure to connect to wifi so that i can connect to net through UBUNTU 10.04

( I AM A NEW USER TO UBUNTU PLZ EXPLAIN IN A SIMPLIFIED WAY ) s w

Did you get a driver disc for your wireless adaptor? If not, you need to go to the manufacturers website and download the driver.

If you do have the driver disc you will need to follow the steps under this section: Using Windows Wireless Drivers and locate the .inf file.

If you post information about your computer i.e. make, model, and any other useful info it would make helping you a lot easier.

I have found .nif file in the driver disk that came with my laptop. After that I downloaded the setup file in my Windows 7 but when i tried to install it in ubuntu the following error came :Dependency not satisfiable ndiswrapper-utis-1.9
Then i downloaded ndiswrapper-utis-1.9 then the error was : Dependency not satisfiable ndiswrapper-common

Somewhere on the internet i read that i must download all the dependencies,
is that so??

By the way i m using DELL Inspiron 14R (N4010) with some modifications.

If you cannot connect your laptop to your network, then yes you do need to download all the dependencies. Can't you connect your laptop to your network using an ethernet cable? Just until you get the wireless driver installed.

Is downloading all dependencies is a troublesome task?
i tried to connect my laptop to internet via wired connection, but that too was not automatically detected.
If having a wired connection to the net can be easier, plz tell me the procedure to connect to it if it is not automatically detected as in windows 7

Did you connect the cable first and then boot up? Or use the GUI network tool called network-admin. It can be run from a terminal but it is also readily available under the system menu. System--> Administration--> Networking.
