As i understand it there are two versions of your wireess card. The new one (ver.2?) has the mac address implemented in a software layer as a way to save some cents for 3com ?
At least that is what i read somewhere, sorry guys, don't remember where i read it.

For that card you will have to use 'ndiswrapper' ( a Program for translating an XP_driver to a Linux _driver_version ) with a windows (XP) driver.

The older one has the mac implemented in the hardware and will work with prism54.
(that is a linux native driver)
So here are some links depending on your version of 3com_card

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One good resource for figuring out if a wireless card can be made to work is
http://www.linux-wlan.org/docs/wlan_adapters.html.gz

And you want a guide for ndiswrapper, you should read
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/m...p/Installation

If you're using Mandrake 10.1 be aware that it has built in the ACX100 Sourceforge Project Driver as a kernel module, you will need to remove this before install the ndiswrapper.

You will also need a copy of the windows driver, which you can get from the 3com web site, you will need to install the driver with ndiswapper.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Prism54 ( for the older cards ) seems to be moving to Tuxfamily's servers.
http://prism54.org/

They have three new projects.

prism54-based usb devices at:
http://jbnote.free.fr/

' islsm, by Jean Baptiste Note, which supports the new ISL3886/ISL3887-based devices (known as "newmacs" or "softmac" devices) and p54u, by Sebastien Bourdeauducq, which is the FreeBSD equivalent of islsm.' at:
http://lekernel.lya-fr.com/ (In french)

The old FullMackDriver (Original is located at
http://svnweb.tuxfamily.org/listing....&path=%2F&sc=0

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yoron.
No, i haven't tried an install yet as i use my cable instead, but i'll have to, soner or later.

am i stupid or what_ _
