What did you search? Because the first result searching for 'yum could not resolve' turns up quite a few suggestions relating to general network setup.
First of all in vmware network adapter setting should be Bridge. All the above output is correct because you haven't properly configure the network yet.

OK after change this, Check again whether any IP address is assigned to your VM. If not assigned try to restart network service again (#service network restart) and check (#ifconfig)
Even after all these your VM not get any IP address from your DHCP better post your network interface configuration
#cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

I tried to find which ip address the VM has picked up by applying the command: "arp -an" but no result appeared on screen! Is that the true command fro finding the assigned ip address?
By the way,the other commandcat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0) gave me: no such file or directory.
Post the following output here
1. #ip a
2. #ls -l /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* (if you find anything like ifcfg-eth0 or ifcfg-eth1) then
3. #cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth*
But unfortunately it didn't work!Anyway thanks for mentioning the videos. As for the mentioned commands,I tried them in the previous comments and they didn't work.
