YUM update question

I use Fedora 5. When I do a yum update to update all te packages on my system then packages are downloaded from the internet. When this is all finished then I expected all the packages te be updated automatically. This doesn't seem to happen.

When do a 'yum update' I first I get a lot of messages that packages are set to be updated. Then yum wants to download packages again. What is happening overhere?

What do you run first time (to download)? Where do you put downloaded packages?

Check that you have enough space left on the disk where the folder /var/cache/yum is situated. If you don't have enough space left, this will cause yum to exit without giving any reason in the terminal in the middle of package download (and not installing/updating anything and starting the download over where it left off last time).

Well, I just typed "yum update". I think the packages are stored in /var/cache.
I got 1.1Gb free disk space. Maybe this free space is not big enough. Indeed, I get no error message. Not so handy.

Maybe first time it just downloaded package headers?

I executed "yum clean all", then "yum update".

Now I got 579Mb free space left, it was 1.1Gb before I started "yum update". So files were downloaded.
There are packages in /var/cache/yum/updates/packages

These are the last lines of the output of the "yum update" command:

Has anyone got an idea why "yum update" is not working? Lack of space on my harddrive?
