I got a new laptop a few days ago, to which I installed Fedora 12, and I am trying to install xmacro on it. I downloaded
xmacro-pre0.3-3.1.x86_64.rpm
and tried to install it, but I get a failed dependencies error.
$ rpm -i xmacro-pre0.3-3.1.x86_64.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libX11 libXtst is needed by xmacro-pre0.3-3.1.x86_64
so I try to install these dependencies, but it appears to be already installed.
$ yum install libX11 libXtst
Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
Package libX11-1.3-1.fc12.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Package libXtst-1.0.99.2-3.fc12.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
I am really confused. I also tried
$ yum localinstall xmacro-pre0.3-3.1.x86_64.rpm
and got a messier output that I do not understand. I'll make a separate post with this so this one doesn't get too long.
I looked at
this thread and one of the posts says there are instructions
here but the link does not work for me.
I installed xmacro on my old laptop (Debian) with no problems. I don't remember how, but I suppose it will be different installing an rpm anyway.
Can someone please help me?
