Unhappy Ximian Evolution e-mail problem


I can recieve mails, but I can't send them? Why?

Make sure you have smtp set up properly. And yes, you need to post a lot more information if you actually want somebody to help you.

tvn and Phorem are correct - you are not providing enough info. Just a guess: I ran into problems sending Email with Evolution at first, and it was because I had the "server uses authentication" box checked for SMTP. That isn't necessary, so I undhecked it and that solved the problem. Note of course that you do need authentication to get mail (POP).

Anyway if you can describe the actual behavior in adequate detail, you increase your chances of getting a useful answer. -- J.W.

I found the solution for this problem. By defoult sendmail listen only
to local smtp. To make him listen to public smtp you must to do this:

edit file "/etc/sysconfig/mail"

find this "SMTPD_LISTEN_REMOTE="no""

and enter this "SMTPD_LISTEN_REMOTE="yes""


Now sendmail listen to public SMTP port.
