x11vnc keeps dropping connection temporarily

I'm running x11vnc-0.9.14-1.fc23.x86_64 on fedora 23 64 bit. From a remote machine (on the same LAN) I'm opening vlc and viewing a webcam on the fedora23 machine but whenever I select anything in the menus in vlc the connection drops to the remote machine. It comes back again after about 10 seconds but it strange the way is just drops. I also send commands to the fedora23 machine using a remote terminal (I use putty) and noticed that dropped as well. Does anyone know why this is or if there's a solution?

Have you looked in the log files?

In traditional logs, I'd recommend looking in /var/log/Xorg.[#].log. I'm not adept at SystemD, but this should help.

Of course, if the proper utilty is installed (I think it's rsyslog), SystemD logging may be reflected in /var/log.
