Hey,
I am using Mandrake 8.1 on an older (About 5/6 years) Toshiba Laptop. It has a Trident controller... Cyber 9525 possibly. When I load X it will load it in a letterbox type frame... with the desktop in the middle and black around the edges, like a few inches. When I originally configured X from the Mandrake install I told it to use 1024x768 resolution. However when I check KDE properties it says that it is running at 800x600. This would always happen when Windows was installed on the machine if you changed the resolution to anything other than 1024x768. Any idea how I can force X to use 1024x768?

My screen was small in console as well as in X. Changed my lilo.conf to have vga=791 and now it displays console as fullscreen. However when I go into X it still displays in the small box... I did set my screen to be 1024x768 when installing as I said, but in the KDE info box it says that the resolution is 800x600. I hit Ctrl-Alt-(+ or -) and with + it changed the resolution to full screen and then X terminated and I was put back to the console... Any ideas?
