X.org 6.8.2-r1 -- Halts when trying to load NV-GLX

I've been playing with this for a while now and I have no idea what to do now.

To put it shortly, my X just started messing up after a reboot. I do not know why. I re-installed the glx and kernel drivers for nVidia, recompiled X, switched kernels.

When I startx, I either see a blank white screen, or the nVidia logo on a blank white screen, and the entire system locks up. I reboot, and when I check the X log, the last line just says:
Code:
(II) Loading extension NV-GLX
What would cause my system to be unable to load glx?

I get the same thing on my Slackware 10.1 based Vector Linux 5.01 SOHO . The card is an MX 440 on an nForce 2 , latest nVidia driver and X.org 6.8.1 . It says loading NV-GLX and screen goes blank , RIP . Here's my post : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=321297

did u emerge the kernel-nvidia and nvidia-glx?
see i had a problem with nvidia as well expect mine was that it couldn't load the glx for some reason, so after reading and re-emergin and some more reading I finally gave up and installed windoze and clicked on the exe for nvidia lol no no no just joking,

What i need was downloaded the driver from nvidia(for linux of course!) unmerge my kernel-nvida, and nvidia-glx, installed the driver w/ sh NVIDIA..sh and it works fine now.

PS do not forget to modify your xorg.conf or Xfree file
