wingate vs squid

I have installed a computer with Win98 and Wingate, this proxy was working very well with near 90 clients, besides whom it realized the administration and blockade of services very well.

I always wanted replace by a proxy in linux, so I did it, I installed a computer with Linux redhat 7.3 and squid-2.5-stable1, when I finished installing it I could realize that also needed a POP and SMTP proxys, for this I installed wgpopp and smtpproxy (they work like wingate), now I have a proxy that works almost as Wingate but when I did the replacement and the clients of icq tried to connect only between 25 and 30 can do it, to other clients marks host not found.

I installed a proxy socks and it marks the same error.

I can do http requests without problems but the icq stops connecting when already it is connected users.

What can I do? help
