wine wont run on centos


i downloaded wine for centos but it wont install. nor will any other software that i got for linux.

Ok. How about some details, as to WHAT won't work?

Did you install wine from source, or did you install via package? What "other software" did you try to install, and how? What error(s) do you see???

The correct way to install wine for centos is first enable the epel repository, then use yum to install wine.

You need to be root to do any of that.

I couldn't find any beginner friendly instructions for enabling the epel repository in centos. It is discussed at about the middle of the long page at
http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalRes...ighlight=(epel)
but not in a beginner friendly way.

Are you installing things using the package manager?

As already stated, you have to tell us exactly what you are doing and what happens.
